Yes

Info

County: Cumberland
Office: Camp Hill Borough Council
Incumbent: No
Vote For: 4

What is the most pressing issue facing the office you are running for and what do you plan to do to solve it?

While Camp Hill is fairly well run, there are some public safety issues, particularly around our schools, that could stand to be addressed. Traffic calming measures, increased police presence when school is starting and letting out, and maybe some flashing stop signs at problem intersections are all options I’d consider.

Please outline two examples of how you are improving your community.

I’ve been volunteering at charitable organizations in the area as well as some youth groups such as Young Professionals of Color, Hope Station, among others. Additionally, I’ve been attending as many events hosted by the Dauphin and Cumberland Democratic Committees as my schedule allows, to stay informed.

What would you do in office to benefit and help young people?

I will support our school board in any way I can during these uncertain times. I’m also interested in potentially joining our parks and recreation committee, as that is one of the areas I appreciate about my borough. This focuses more on our youth than ‘young people’ as the Democratic Party defines them I guess, but I’m not sure what options I’ll have available as a member of borough council.

What is an issue that you are passionate about and why?

At the national level, our tax policy is my biggest issue. We need to admit that Trickle Down Economics is an abject failure and that it’s done a great disservice to the poor and middle classes, to the benefit of those who are already well off.

What is the last book you read or what is your favorite book?

It’s hard to pick just one. The Authoritarians by Bob Altemeyer is one of my favorites. War is a Racket by Smedley Butler is excellent as well, as is Debt: The First 5000 Years by David Graeber

Is there anything else that you would like the Young Democrats to know about you or your campaign?

It’s been a pleasure meeting the members of your group that I’ve come across in the past year and it’s great to see that some of them have even stepped up to run for office themselves. We need more young people involved in the process. The issues we face, such as the unaffordability of college, homes, and just the overall cost of living; disproportionately affects them.
