About

Born in Juniatta County, but raised in Hampden Township, Adrian attended Cumberland Valley School District for most of his childhood, and later a Computer Information Systems course Cumberland Perry Vocational Technical School. Afterward, he pursued a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science at California University of Pennsylvania where he met his future wife, and moved home upon graduating. After buying a house in Silver Spring Township during the middle of the pandemic, he quickly became interested in local government and began to attend Recreation Advisory Council, Planning Commission, and Board of Supervisors meetings.

During the 2024 campaign season, he became a founding member of the South Central Young Democrats and the Treasurer of the group. In early 2025, he and a few other contributors formed The South Central Democrat newsletter with the goal of informing other members of SCYD about their local governments.

2025 Campaign

With the retirement of Nancy Konhaus from the Silver Spring Township Board of Supervisors, Adrian decided that now was a good a time as any to run for office.

What is the most pressing issue facing the office you are running for and what do you plan to do to solve it?

I am a Democrat running in a predominantly Republican township. People keep telling me that it’s unlikely or even impossible for me to win, but at the end of the day, these municipal elections are decided by such a small number of votes that it’s really anyone’s game. I plan on energizing Democratic and Republican voters alike by focusing on what we agree on most: we are sick of commercial and industrial development, and we want this township to continue to be a great place to live.

Please outline two examples of how you are improving your community.

I am currently a member of the Recreation Advisory Council for the township, and help to provide input and feedback on local park development. I am active in the effort to restore habitat in the Vincent de Filippo nature preserve through the Riparian Rangers program. We maintain “the tube farm” which comprises thousands of native trees and shrubs.

What would you do in office to benefit and help young people?

I plan on encouraging the adoption of streaming meetings like the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board, as many with young families simply cannot attend in person. I would also like to focus on zoning modifications that would encourage developers to build smaller, more affordable, homes and condos, while also promoting home ownership. Rentals are great and all, but it’s hard to truly settle down in an area when you do not own your own home.

What is an issue that you are passionate about and why?

Walkability. Our township is quite small, yet it is nearly impossible to walk anywhere because there are large stretches of road with no sidewalk, and many major roads are horrifically unsafe for pedestrians. With only a few trail connections, the majority of our residents would have walking access to the Carlisle Pike and Mechanicsburg. The current board is also in favor of a walkability by a slim majority, and electing me would keep it that way.

What is the last book you read or what is your favorite book?

The last book I read was “The American Home Garden” by Alexander Watson. Written in 1859, it details how gardens and farms were once managed without the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides, and specialized gardening gadgets. The author is also quite opinionated, which makes this an interesting read. Favorite book is no contest: Lord of the Rings.

Is there anything else that you would like the Young Democrats to know about you or your campaign?
